PUBLIC COMMENT ON TIP AMENDMENT NO.14

 NIRPC is seeking public comment for the next 30 days on Amendment No. 14 to the FY 2008-2011 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  Projects proposed for the amendment may be viewed by clicking here. 

Comments are welcome through Friday, September 12, 2008.  Comments may be submitted via email to bpetroskey@nirpc.org; fax to 219/762-1654; or sent to NIRPC at 6100 Southport Road, Portage, In.  46368.  

Staff will review comments and prepare responses for action by the NIRPC Commissioners at the September 18, 2008 Commission meeting.  Commission meetings are open to the public and include an opportunity for public comments.

Summary of TIP Amendment No. 14

• Adds 10 Highway Safety Improvement Projects in various locations in Lake, Porter and La Porte Counties.
• Increases funds to one existing highway safety project in Lowell (SR 2 at Burr St.)
• Adds CMAQ Demo funds for 3 years of operating assistance for the Valpo to Chicago commuter bus service.
• Adds CMAQ Demo funds for last 2 years of operating assistance for the Valpo city bus service (V-Line).
• Increases funds to 2 existing projects; 1) Iron Horse Trail Phase I (Portage); and 2) intersection improvements on 109th (Lake of Four Seasons).
• Adds 7 new projects from INDOT at locations in Lake, Porter and La Porte Counties, including new Hoosier Helper vehicles, preventive maintenance on US 30, intersection improvements on 109th in Lake of Four Seasons, and bridge repairs on 20 INDOT-owned bridges in La Porte County.
