Municipal Survey Questions

Bicycle and Pedestrian Questions:

  1. What is your maintenance schedule on non-motorized trails (mowing, plowing, etc.)?


  2. Does your community have a Complete Streets Policy or will have soon?

  3. What is your current program for repairing and/or installing sidewalks?


  4. Does your community have a Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities Plan?

  5. Does your law enforcement have a program for bicycle safety?

  6. Does your community work with a citizens bicycle and pedestrian advocacy group?

  7. Does your community have a bicycle parking ordinance?

  8. Does your community host any major bicycle events or rides?

  9. Does your community have any programs for paddling?

  10. Does your community currently manage any parks, trail corridors, or other public areas for wildlife or habitat conservation purposes? (Managing for wildlife or habitat could include planting native or forage plants, landscaping to provide cover, providing bird nest boxes, controlling invasive species etc.)

  11. Does your comprehensive plan identify priorities for acquisition or protection of natural areas, trail corridors, forests, wetlands, lakes, or streams?

  12. Does your community currently have an active land acquisition program in place for expansion or addition of trails and parks?

  13. Does your community have any ordinances in place requiring or encouraging setbacks or easements between development and natural areas such as wetlands, streams, lakes, forests, or conservation areas?

  14. Does your subdivision ordinance permit open space residential developments (cluster or conservation subdivisions?)
