NIRPC announces the new online Transportation Improvement Program

October 22, 2018

The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) announces the new online Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  This is a web-based program that will allow anyone to easily see any of the federally funded multimodal surface transportation investments planned by local, regional and state partners in our region. Funding for the investments programmed in the RTIP is a mix of Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Indiana Department of Transportation, and local matching funds. The investments programmed in the RTIP assist local and regional partners to provide a multi-modal transportation system for the people of Northwestern Indiana. The investments are evaluated to help prioritize limited federal funds available to the area.  The program is called Regional Transportation Improvement Program or RTIP for short and the website is: https://rtip.nirpc.org.  This new website will help improve the transparency of the TIP to everyone.

The RTIP website represents the current 2018-2021 RTIP at any given time. This new program will allow the user to view the most up to date information in the approved 2018-2021 TIP as a whole or to examine details of an individual project, including the ability to view either the program or a project on a geographic information system (GIS) map.
