NIRPC to hold public comment period on amendment #1B for the 2019-2020 Unified Planning Work Program

The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) will hold a 7-day public comment period on amendment #1B for the 2019-2020 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP). The comment period begins today and will end March 18, 2018.

The 2019-2020 UPWP is a core transportation planning document required by the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) of a Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The amendment to the approved work plan for the MPO staff adds funds previously identified for the Household Travel Survey to this UPWP. The UPWP is also a financial planning document linking resources and staff where they will be the most effective in responding to significant local and regional issues, and resolving area-wide problems. The UPWP continues to balance within the available resources, long and short-range planning and programming; special studies; data gathering, analysis and dissemination; travel demand modeling; public involvement; and program administration. This includes describing other planning, administrative and program offerings of NIRPC as a council of governments.

Comments may be submitted until March 18, 2019 in the following ways:

  • Phone: 219-763-6060, ext. 160
