SC2, Strong NWI Symposium – Presentations

White House Council on Strong Cities, Strong Communities, along with co-sponsors,  the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development,  U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, City of Gary, and Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission, in partnership with the Legacy Foundation held a two day symposium – Strong Cities, Strong Communities, Strong Northwest Indiana– on July 22nd and 23rd at the Genesis Convention Center in Gary. 

 

The Symposium featured experts from Northwest Indiana and surrounding states for two days of focused discussion on economic development, transportation, health, and housing strategies to improve quality of life in Northwest Indiana communities.

 

With the help of our steering committee, the line up for this event included a welcome and introduction by Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson and presentations by Knight Foundation’s Carol Coletta, former Mayor of Milwaukee and Director for the Congress for the New Urbanism John Norquist, Denise Dillard of Methodist Hospitals, Small Business Administration Regional Administrator Marianne Markowitz, the president and CEO of Center for Community Progress Tamar Shapiro, and many more!
