Working to enhance the quality of life for nearly 800,000 people along the southern shore of Lake Michigan, the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) is seeking four exceptional individuals for internships on the Transportation Team
SUMMARY OF THE POSITION:
The Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC) is the Council of Government and Metropolitan Planning Organization for a region of nearly 800,000 people in Lake, Porter, and LaPorte Counties of Indiana and part of the Chicago Metropolitan Area. NIRPC provides a forum that enables the citizens of Northwest Indiana to address regional issues relating to transportation, the environment and economic development.
Internship Details:
The summer semester internships will be offered from approximately June 6, 2022 to August 12, 2022 at 20-25 hours per week pending workload availability. Interns should be current students in urban planning, geography or civil engineering with a focus on transportation.
Internship activities will include some or all of the following planning activities:
Transportation data collection in the field or through research;
Geographic Information System data collection, update and/or analysis;
Opportunities to attend and participate in public outreach activities and meetings with a wide variety of public officials.
Transportation project/program management support
Transit planning and analysis
Hourly Compensation : $16 per hour for Graduate Students; $14 per hour for undergraduate students
